Privacy policy
GazeKeeper keeps your data on your Mac. The developer receives none of it.
Last updated: October 2026
The short version
GazeKeeper is free and has no account. It has no analytics and no telemetry. Your break history, statistics and settings are stored on your Mac. The only network request the app makes is its check for updates.
What the app stores
Settings and the event log are saved in ~/Library/Application Support/GazeKeeper. The event log
records break events, such as a break starting or being skipped, with a time and an optional reason. Quit the app
and delete that folder to remove it. Exporting stats writes a file to the place you choose. The developer
operates no service that could receive any of this.
What the app reads
The app reads system state to decide when to hold a break:
- Whether a camera or microphone is in use. It does not read what they capture.
- Whether a macOS screen-sharing or recording service has a window open.
- Which app is in front, and whether its window fills the screen. It does not read window contents.
- How long ago you last used the keyboard or pointer. It does not read keystrokes. It needs no Accessibility permission.
Permissions
- Notifications (optional). Used for a heads-up banner when a fullscreen app hides the heads-up pill.
- Calendar (optional, off by default). macOS calls this permission full access to events. GazeKeeper uses it only to read the start times of upcoming meetings. It does not change events. It does not save or send them.
Updates
GazeKeeper uses Sparkle to check for updates. Each check requests the appcast file from this site over HTTPS. Like any web request, it reveals your IP address and the app version to the server. It does not send usage data or an identifier. Downloading an update fetches the new disk image from this site.
Purchases
There are none. GazeKeeper is free, so there are no payment details and no customer database.
This website
This site is static files. It sets no cookies and runs no analytics or tracking scripts. The 20-20-20 timer keeps its state in your browser's session storage. It is not sent anywhere.
Children
GazeKeeper collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
